If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a thousand pictures—some believe a video can be worth as much as 1.8 million words. Video marketing is hottest trend in digital marketing…and it is here to stay. These statistics cannot be ignored as to their significance: (Sources: Hubspot & Forbes)

  • Video is projected to claim 80% of all web traffic by 2019
  • Website landing pages with embedded video can increase conversion by 80%
  • Adding a video to marketing emails can boost click-through rates by 200%-300%
  • More video content is uploaded in one single month, than TV created in three decades
  • B2B (Business to Business) companies, over 96%, plan on using video in their content marketing in 2017

If you want to stand out from the crowd or simply be competitive, you need professional video as part of your marketing online presence. You can still be an “early adopter” if you start now and reap that advantage. Video can be used across channels from YouTube, to Facebook embedded videos, to video ads in online searches, to email, to landing page videos on your website. This form of rich media is proving to be extremely effective content marketing. It is a way to do brand storytelling.

For a small business, video marketing allows you to create excitement around your brand. Many studies now support that video has a higher ROI than any other content, especially true for small business and cottage industries. Video can be used to:

  • Create excitement about products and/or services
  • Showcase product knowledge and product use
  • Feature testimonials
  • Answer customer questions
  • Showcase employees and provide a medium for employee advocacy

According to research by Invodo and Small Business Trends, video helps you sell more because 73% of consumers are more likely to make purchase after watching a video that explains a product or service and 96% of shoppers find videos helpful when making a purchase decision online. In addition 58% of shoppers consider companies that produce video content to be more trustworthy. Plus, the rule applies that people remember 80% of what they see and do. These statistics are similar by several different sources. We should not question whether video is important. We should be questioning how do we capitalize on the power of video?  The answer is to have professional video added into your marketing mix, if it is not already a budgeted part of what you do. Realize there are many different levels of video quality and the video needs to be authentic, but also represent quality as the video will represent your brand. Future articles will discuss more about this powerful tool, how to use video across channels and more. For questions, contact Sabrina Pack-SkyWest Media. (SabrinaPack@skywestmedia.com).
